Update Your Registration Online

The Virginia State Board of Elections website makes it possible to update your registration name and/or address online. To do so, simply visit the Citizen Portal of the State Department of Elections.

Cancel Voter Registration

To Cancel your Voter Registration Print and submit this form. (Español)
PLEASE NOTE: Submission of this form will remove you from the Virginia voter registration records. Understand that you will no longer be eligible to vote in the Commonwealth of Virginia unless you reapply for registration.

Report the Death of a Registered Voter

Periodically, the Office of Elections receives Death Records from the State Registrar of Vital Records in order to process the removal of deceased voters from voting registration records.  If you would like to ensure that a deceased voter is removed from the voting records, there are a few ways to do so.

 

Relatives and legal representatives (see form for limitations) may confirm the voter’s death by completing this form and submit it via fax, mail, or in person. See bottom of page for contact information. 

Non-relatives may supply our office with (1) a death certificate OR (2) an obituary posted in a newspaper distributed within the locality or on a website of a licensed funeral home.
